What happens when your paper is accepted?
Staff Processing
All manuscripts accepted by Blood Advances are subject to image evaluation and plagiarism screening. Journal staff will also review your submitted files to ensure that the format and quality of all files are suitable for publication.
Online copyright transfer
Blood Advances requires all authors of accepted manuscripts to complete electronic copyright transfer signatures or to document their status as an NIH or other U.S. federal employee and thus unable to transfer copyright. Upon acceptance of a manuscript, an e-mail will be sent to all coauthors with instructions for logging on to eJournalPress individually and providing their electronic signatures. Articles will not be published in any form until all signatures are received via eJournalPress.
Figures for the final publication
Blood Advances accepts digital TIFF and EPS images. We STRONGLY discourage submission of figures as Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt) files because they result in much lower quality images.
If you are asked to provide new images for production, lay out figures as compactly as is consistent with conveying the relevant data. Figures will be sized to fit the smallest possible space, but in order to prevent radical changes in figure content, prepare the figures in one of two sizes: 8.0 cm (1-column width) or, if necessary, 11.5 cm (1.5 column width). Note that these instructions do NOT apply to figures submitted for peer review.
First Edition publication
Once staff have confirmed that all requirements for production have been met, the submission will be transferred to Elsevier to begin the production process. At the same time, staff will publish a clean, PDF copy of your accepted manuscript to Blood Advances First Edition. For final publication, lay out figures as compactly as is consistent with conveying the relevant data. Production
Blood Advances articles subsequently undergo standard production processes, including copyediting, composition, and proofreading. Authors of accepted manuscripts will receive electronic page proofs directly from Elsevier and are responsible for proofreading and checking the entire article, including tables, figures, and references. Please note that any delay in returning proofs will result in publication delays. The edited article is subsequently published in its final form online and collected into the next available online issue of Blood Advances.
