Abstract
Four individuals in two generations of a Caucasian family have about 5 per cent of Hb-F in which the sole type of γ chain is that with alanine in position 136. It is suggested that these heterozygotes may constitute a subclass of the hereditary persistence of fetal hemoglobin.
