Welcome to the Preview issue of ASH News Daily for the 63rd ASH Annual Meeting! This year, registrants will have the choice of attending in person or on a virtual platform, but either way, the world-class content for which ASH is well recognized will be on full display. To deliver this choice, strict health and safety protocols have been carefully vetted and put in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
This Preview edition of ASH News Daily will highlight some of the most important events and sessions to look forward to at the meeting and also familiarize you with the virtual meeting experience and platform tools. Providing some of these informative updates is the ASH News Daily editorial board, led by Dr. Naseema Gangat from the Mayo Clinic and representing a wide breadth of hematology specialties. With their trusted advice, you won’t have to miss a thing! And since there will be a return to an in-person component, ASH News Daily will guide attendees with maps (there have been some welcome renovations in and surrounding the Georgia World Congress Center campus), exhibit information, and other tips to navigate the meeting, which is always bustling with seemingly endless educational opportunities.
On Wednesday and Thursday before the meeting begins, there will be a return to Preview Days, which provide the opportunity for all attendees to orient themselves with the virtual platform and to preview some of the prerecorded sessions. There will be a “Welcome Back” reception Friday evening for in-person participants to meet and greet friends and colleagues. Other meeting highlights include an expansion of Poster Walk offerings after the official meeting days; abundant time following the meeting for on-demand viewing; up-to-date COVID-19–related science and education; a deliberate focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion; ASH Research Collaborative Special-Interest Sessions; the ASH Wellness Studio; and the chance to participate either in-person or virtually in the ASH Foundation Run/Walk. New this year (and a topic I am especially looking forward to) will be the Special-Interest Session addressing “The Role of Real World Data Collection in Hematologic Malignancies.”
I hope that you are as excited as I am about returning and reconnecting at #ASH21!
