Lillian L. Siu, MD
The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) named Lillian L. Siu, MD, fellow of the AACR Academy, president-elect for 2024-2025. She became president-elect officially on April 8 and will assume the presidency in April 2025.
In her new role, Dr. Siu will work directly with the AACR Board officers and directors and the AACR membership to support the association’s mission through research, communication, education, collaboration, advocacy, policy, and funding.
Currently, Dr. Siu is also senior medical oncologist, director of the Phase I Clinical Trials Program, codirector of the Robert and Maggie Bras and Family Drug Development Program, clinical lead for the Tumor Immunotherapy Program, the BMO Chair in Precision Cancer Genomics at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre of University Health Network in Toronto, and a professor of medicine at the University of Toronto.
She joined AACR in 1996 and has taken on several roles within the association. Much of her work has focused on optimizing clinical trial design, which has led to significant advancements in immunotherapy and molecularly targeted therapies in head, neck, and gastrointestinal cancers.
Over her career, Dr. Siu has won countless awards and served three roles on AACR’s journals.
“I am deeply honored to serve as the AACR president-elect for 2024-2025,” Dr. Siu said. “I am excited to have the opportunity to connect with AACR members globally, working collaboratively to translate promising cancer research into meaningful improvements in patient care. Additionally, I am thrilled to play a part in expanding AACR’s educational initiatives through workshops and conferences on a global scale.”
