Stefan C. Grant, MD, was named deputy director of the Louisiana Cancer Research Center (LCRC). He has also taken on the role of chief of the section of hematology and medical oncology in the John W. Deming Department of Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine.

Dr. Grant is a thoracic medical oncologist who is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. He has substantial experience with National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers, leading clinical trials and developing intellectual property.

His research focuses on immunological approaches to treating lung cancer, use of targeted therapies, and pragmatic clinical trials. In addition to his current roles, Dr. Grant has also held several roles at Wake Forest University, the Association of American Cancer Institutes’ Clinical Research Innovation, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is also a fellow of the American College of Physicians.

“[Dr. Grant] will bring that deep expertise in clinical trials to Louisiana to work with our leadership team to develop and lead new initiatives across our work in clinical and translational research designed specifically to meet the needs of Louisianans,” said LCRC director and CEO Joe W. Ramos, PhD. “This is an important step to making a meaningful difference to reduce the high burden of cancer across the state.”
