Mark Foundation Awards $12 Million for Multidisciplinary Cancer Research

May 31, 2022

June 2022

The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research has chosen four multidisciplinary teams to receive the 2022 Endeavor Awards, granting each team $3 million to pursue collaborative, innovative research to improve the understanding and treatment of cancer. Bringing together investigators from leading cancer research centers from Germany and eight U.S. states, the four teams will focus on key areas in cancer research: inflammation, the microbiome, metabolism, and the humoral immune system.

The four teams granted the 2022 Endeavor Awards were chosen from nearly 200 applications from around the world. The awardees were selected based on a rigorous review process that included live interviews and an assessment of team chemistry and dynamics.

In May 2022, a new call for proposals for Endeavor teams will be issued. It is expected that at least three additional awards will be granted in 2023, given a recent commitment of an additional $500 million by Alex Knaster, founder of the Mark Foundation.
