Camille Ragin, PhD, has been named as associate director of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. In the newly created position, Dr. Ragin is charged with enhancing diversity throughout the cancer center, including facilitation of a more diverse workforce and leadership at all levels of the institution, as well as training and educating the community on race-related issues. She will also facilitate collaboration on issues of inclusion and diversity among the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, Temple University Health System, and Fox Chase.

Dr. Ragin’s experience includes many years of research on cancer disparities that affect populations of African descent. In 2006, she founded the African-Caribbean Cancer Consortium (AC3), a collaborative research endeavor that studies the viral, genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors among people of African descent that are associated with cancer risk and outcomes. Her laboratory also established a multicultural, community-based cancer prevention registry called the Cancer Prevention Project of Philadelphia that has helped facilitate the development of a model for population-based health disparities research studies.
