Martin S. Tallman, MD
On June 1, 2022, Martin S. Tallman, MD, took over as director of faculty mentorship and career development at Lurie Cancer Center at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Health in Chicago. He left his post as chief of the Leukemia Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and professor of medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York where his clinical research helped advance targeted therapies for leukemia. Dr. Tallman will continue clinical investigation into the management and development of new therapies for chronic and acute leukemias in his new role.
Dr. Tallman is immediate past president of the American Society of Hematology and immediate past chair of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Acute Myeloid Leukemia Panel. For 16 years, he chaired the Leukemia Committee of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG).
Commenting on the appointment, Leonidas Platanias, MD, PhD, director of the Lurie Cancer Center, said that Dr. Tallman’s “expertise in clinical trials and drug development, along with his commitment to education and mentoring, will build on the strength of our program and help us set new standards.”
