Now Available for Latin American Audience: Adapted Recommendations from ASH Clinical Practice Guidelines on the Prevention of VTE

March 31, 2022

April 2022

The American Society of Hematology (ASH) partnered with 12 international hematology societies representing 10 countries in Latin America to produce the 2022 Guidelines for Prevention of Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) in Surgical and Medical Patients and Long-Distance Travelers in Latin America, published in Blood Advances on February 23, 2022. Adapted from two of ASH’s guidelines on VTE (Prevention of VTE in Surgical Patients and Prophylaxis for Medical Patients), the new publication provides evidence-based guidance on the prevention of VTE, focusing on the questions from the original guidelines that were deemed most clinically significant in Latin America.

The full guidelines can be accessed on BloodAdvances.org, while clinical tools and educational resources to help patients, hematologists, and other health care providers understand and implement the recommendations are available at hematology.org/VTE.
