Teladoc Health and Amazon announced a partnership that will connect patients and doctors through Alexa. The service will give customers in the U.S. access to general medical advice 24/7.
By saying, “Alexa, I want to talk to a doctor,” customers can connect with the Teladoc call center and then receive a call back on their device. Virtual medical visits are intended for non-emergency health needs, such as a cold, flu, or allergies.
“We’re excited to work with Teladoc Health to offer our customers an easy, hands-free way to connect with a doctor,” said Debra Chrapaty, vice president and chief operating officer of Amazon Alexa. “Whether they’re taking care of their sick child in the middle of the night or wanting to ask a doctor about allergy symptoms in between meetings during the day, we hope this experience will help customers find the convenient help they want from the comfort of their own home.”
The voice-activated service will work on supported Echo devices, including Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Show, and will initially launch via audio with plans for eventual video capabilities.
