Jacob Scott, MD, DPhil
The Case Comprehensive Cancer Center at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, announced the appointment of Jacob Scott, MD, DPhil, as associate director for cancer data sciences. In this role, Dr. Scott plans to unify scientists to focus on cancer-based questions, create a culture of collaboration and discovery between disciplines, and promote discovery and translation in oncology research.
Cancer data sciences is a discipline intended to standardize and organize data for optimal use and leverage advanced analytic approaches to enable independent and synergistic research for basic, clinical, population, and translational sciences.
“I am honored and excited to lead this effort to bring scientists together from disciplines not usually considered to be associated with cancer to create new tools and catalyze discovery to improve our understanding of cancer and ultimately, help our patients,” said Dr. Scott.
Dr. Scott has been on the faculty at Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic since 2016. He pursues research that decomposes the complexity of cancer through mathematical modeling and the biological and clinical validation of these models.
